A tradition traces its founding to the High Middle Ages: it is due to Saint Martian who lived there.
The Barbarian Invasions had had reason.
But a few years before the year 1000, there was built a large monastery dedicated to St. Maurice and St. Juste.
Anyway the first document assured, remains the foundation or restoration dated 1004. Robert and Varacon, powerful lords of Saignon related to the family of Saint Mayeul founded the monastery of St. Eusèbe.Abbaye![]()
Eldebert In 1032, Lord of Saignon, gives the abbey restored by their families to the Order of Saint Gilles. Saint Odilon, abbot of Cluny, supports and installs monks.
In 1096, the return of a council Pope Urban II enters St. Eusebius and devotes a church which had just been rebuilt.
Saint-Eusèbe became powerful and prosperous.
